Recycling is a Lot Better Than Retiring

I have found my retirement dream job and would like to share it with you. I taught in various school systems for over 30 years. I got tired of getting up at 5am and having to be at meetings until late at night. Last year I decided that I had enough of “the system”. I officially retired from schools but not from teaching.

I am now teaching individuals from my home. I only teach one or two children at a time. Because their parents pay for my services, the children are with me because they want to be here.

I have students ranging in age from 6 to 18 and I help them in whatever subject they need help in, primarily math and reading. I set up my own schedule and my parents appreciate my work and so are willing to let me be flexible about scheduling if something comes up and I want to get away.

Of course, I don’t make as much money as I did before. But the flexibility it offers me, the ability to work from home, and being able to work with students who want to learn more than makes up for any pay cut.
